My sincerest greetings to one, none, and all. I was introduced to this site by a potentially-mutual friend, and I decided to build my nest here, so to speak.
You may call me Hand for short. I am a former roleplayer of over a decade, dipping my toes back in. I started in my teens, though those years have long since passed. I have roleplayed countless characters, both canon and OCs, and have touched on all genres in some form or another. Most of my characters have been human or humanoid, though I love playing inhuman beasts, machines, or other entities when the situation allows. If I have any melancholy, it's merely that those more outlandish character types rarely get much interest to use them with. As far as genres go, I tend to lean towards fantasy settings, mostly due to character selections.
More than characters or genres, the real point of interest is the themes. More than anything, I enjoy any story, roleplay or otherwise, that has something to say in its subtext. Whether it's from the main character(s) suffering in despair or a lighthearted scenario in a kinder setting, my favorite memories of past roleplays all had more that it was conveying about the world and its effects on the people at large rather than just a narrow view. Even when it focuses on the characters by themselves, I truly love tackling not just character development, but also revealing what kind of person they really are on the inside. People are complicated, and complicated individuals can be very interesting to see more angles of.
On a more personal note, I have several severe mental issues that I'd rather not go into, but go easy on me if things come up. Also, I'm a once-voracious reader, though in recent years I've weaned off of books. Most of my fiction comes from movies or games these days. In fact, the title of this thread comes from an obscure older game. Anyone care to guess if they know where it's from? I'll go ahead and say it's not from Bloodborne, despite the hunt.
