Hello, Lovelies of Writing Home.

In this post, we will be reminding our users of a couple things.

The first is a reminder to read the rules of a category before posting in it.

When posting your search threads, remember to first read: 1x1 Roleplaying Recruitment Rules/Info!

Reading this helps you know what is allowed and is not allowed, as well as defines what each section in the 1x1 recruitment is for.

This brings us to our second reminder: What is Gender Irrelevant?

Gender Irrelevant is defined as it is defined in two separate areas on Writing Home (one being in the above linked rules/info).

For users who will play either gender for any pairing.
If you're indifferent and will play whatever gender your partner doesn't want to play in your pairings, you post in Gender Irrelevant.
  • To clarify, to post in Gender Irrelevant, all pairings/plots must conform to this. You cannot have half where you only play (gender) but the rest are irrelevant. All your pairings must be irrelevant.

This means, if you, the poster, are not open to roleplaying as either gender, you should not post in Gender Irrelevant.

If you are open to having a partner of either gender but will only play male or female, you may post your thread in both (your)Gender for Male / (your)Gender for Female, etc.

So, let's explain why it only works one way...

Most users who are Gender Irrelevant as a player are also often Gender Irrelevant concerning their partner (it often goes hand-in-hand, though not always). This makes it easier for users who are gender irrelevant as well to easily find partners and pick which character they want to play the most.

When we allow people who ONLY play one gender to post in the Gender Irrelevant section, it becomes harder for users looking for partners to find someone who is actually Irrelevant when it comes to gender.

When a user is searching for a partner through the threads available, they use the topics to know what is within. If a male is looking for a female, he goes to the Female for Male section. If a male is looking for a male, he goes to the Male for Male section. If they are looking for someone indifferent and who doesn't care about what gender they are (or that they themselves can play any gender) they would go to Gender Irrelevant.

If a searcher wants a female partner, they will go to the 'female for' sections because they know every poster will be playing a female, which cannot be said for Gender Irrelevant if we allow users to post threads where they will only play one gender. It's about the poster of the thread being Gender Irrelevant, not the searcher. Just as we expect the posters of 'Female for (gender)' to be playing females, we expect the posters in Gender Irrelevant to be gender irrelevant with their own characters.

If we allowed users to only play a specific gender as a poster, the category becomes a mess because it no longer adheres to the theme of gender for gender categorization (excluding our non-binary section in said description).

By ensuring the POSTER is Gender Irrelevant, it means the searcher knows what type of search threads they can expect within.

Lastly, be respectful when contacted...

If you are contacted by an Admin or Mod for any reason, be respectful in your response.
You may not agree with everything we, as a site, have decided to implement, but they are the rules you must adhere to.

Admins and Mods do their best to be respectful, informative, and understanding.
It's why most people don't actually get in trouble when they make a mistake.

So, when contacted, remember:
  • If you don't understand, ask for clarification.
  • Don't scoff, argue, or dismiss what has been explained to you because you don't agree.
    • If you think a mistake has been made or a misunderstanding has happened, calmly explain.
  • Avoid underhanded comments that insult the rules that have been broken simply because you do not agree.
  • Avoid dismissive words such as 'whatever'.
Almost all rules are well-defined and explained on Writing Home.

If a user continually ignores or breaks the rules, it is not the Admin or Mod's fault that they are being contacted.
The only person to blame is the user who is refusing to read the rules ahead of time, willfully ignoring them, or forgetting them.
Getting mad and fighting with an Admin or Mod is a good way to get a mark on your account for being disrespectful.

Everything on this site is considered, thought over, discussed, and voted in for implementation by both the 7-founders and, sometimes, even the users themselves.

Admins and Mods almost never mark a user unless they are willfully ignoring rules or breaking the more serious ones (e.g. Pedo).

We try to be kind and understanding and ask our users to be as well.

Thank you.
