Hello, My Dears.

This is a quick post to explain a few things.

First, we were aware we were having quite a bit of downtime even when we weren't getting maintenance (though that's what our hosting site called it). It seemed once or twice a week the site lagged or went down for maintenance.
It came to light that we were actually lagging or having the site failure to load because we're on a shared server. Unfortunately, it's common on failed servers for yours to drop when people have issues with their own sites on the same server (DDOS attacks). I brought it up with our tech-guy and he explained that swapping servers may be beneficial as the servers in other regions tend to have this issue less.

So, we've swapped off our USA server for one located elsewhere in the world at his suggestion in hopes that it will decrease our lag and downtime moving forward. If it does not, we will address the issue then.

When we grow larger and more active, we will likely move onto a private server, if able, to ensure we have quick speeds. Unfortunately, as it is right now, we want to keep costs down as we grow unless absolutely necessary. While we strive for the success of Writing Home, there is a realistic chance of failure in the long run (let's hope we beat the odds).

We'll be keeping note of all 'universal' lag or downtime for the site (not individual people, as those can be caused by a factor of things that do not relate to the server) and update everyone as we go.

We also apologize for the suddenness of the update yesterday, but it needed to be completed in order for us to open up again in the morning hours. Moving forward, we will attempt to do all maintenance in the evenings/nights Pacific USA time.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
