Hey, hi, and hello! 👋😁

My username is Bittersweet Reverie, but you can just call me Rev for expediency's sake. I have been in and out of the social writing scene for a little over a decade; and after taking a creative hiatus due to being an essential healthcare worker during the trying times of the pandemic, I have decided to get back to one of the hobbies that I find both parts enjoyable and fulfilling to the caffiene-addled, story writing brain.

Though I am not going to sell myself on here in terms of who I am as a writer (because I will most certainly do that on my eventual interest checks), I will summarize my loves, hobbies, and "aesthetics" so we could see if we collide in the same wavelengths or not. This is NOT a request thread, but if you would like to write or chat or share some dank memes from TikTok or the interwebs, my inbox is always open for ya'll. <3

-- The four types of genres that I love to work with are comedy, fantasy, romance, and psychological horror. Smut is optional, but not mandatory.
-- I love poetry, whether it is poetry that makes the heart flutter or the type of poetry that stabs me right in the feels.
-- I also love the idea of making parodies (or CW-ifications) of TV shows and movies. Let's make a CW version of Blue's Clues and 👏 go 👏 HAM 👏 with 👏 it!
-- Any communication between my partners in and out of character writing is always a plus in my book. <3

-- I love documentaries and podcasts that talk about true crime. Examples of the podcasts I listen to almost on a daily basis are Cult Podcast and The Last Podcast on the Left.
-- I'm also an avid watcher of WWE and AEW. And it's not because I like looking at well-built men wrestling around other well-built men. No. Nooooooot at allllll! >.>
-- I am a very casual gamer. The game that I am currently playing right now is Final Fantasy IX. One of my favorite games of all time is Octopath Traveler.
-- I also like to listen to music, and try to explore some underrated gems whenever I can. In fact, one of my favorite bands of all time are The Paper Kites-- and I kiiiiinda want to keep the sparkling diamond of a band to be my lovely little secret. >.<

-- Favorite colors: Blue and green.
-- Favorite music genres to vibe to: Indie -- folk and rock.
-- Favorite bird: Hummingbird.
-- Favorite season: Autumn.

*Finger Guns back at ya.* I tried Octopath traveler. It wasn't horrible, but it involved too much grinding for my taste. If everyone got points no matter who you fought as (such as in Tales of Symphonia), I probably would have liked it more. However, having to change out chars to get them to level up was the killer for me and I ended up dropping the game pretty early.

I know what you mean. I grew up playing turn-based RPGs, so the grinding does not bother me that much; but since you are playing as eight characters traversing around the continent to defeat an evil cult wanting to bring back an evil deity, it would be pretty rad if they have an experience share and/or a quick team player change-out option to keep character levels fairly equal and use a lot of strategy with all of the eight that you have (besides putting the other four guys at an inn until you think you need them at some point. And you will need all of them when you face the final boss).

Otherwise, I love that game. The graphics, the characters, and the soundtrack blew me away.

I actually need to try a "Tales of" game. The only one I have in my gaming collection is Tales of Destiny for the PS1. But there are soooooooo many games in my collection that I am trying to figure out what to play next WHILE I am playing Final Fantasy IX. Ugh. >.<

Yeah. I grew up on RPGs as well and I am fine with normal grinding, but that was just too much for me. I'm also a streamer and that is not a good streaming game because of it. I'll just fall silent and be staring at the screen groaning in annoyance over time. Lol.

I've only played Tales of Symphonia. None of the others. lol

I'm a classic RPG-er, but am trying to expand my range of games by doing platformers and action RPGs and puzzles. Shooters and sports games are not my favorites, and open world games are awesome and all... until you focus so much on the side quests that you totally forgot there's a main story that you need to do to, I dunno, COMPLETE the game! X.X

Lol. Yeah, shooters and sports I avoid. I play a lot of horror games on twitch, but more the jumpscare/puzzle ones vs shooters. I like the suspense and the reactions can make for good viewing.
Currently, I'm going through the Corpse Party games (I'm on Blood Drive currently). However, Rune Factory 5 comes out at the end of this month so I'll be hiding away from the world for a little. Lol.

You brave soul. I'm very, very sensitive to jump scares. That and the anticipation that a jump scare is going to happen. Most horror movies nowadays has that trend going on for cheap, uncreative reasons.

That's why I like psychological horror and thrillers. They do not scare you with that type of stuff. Like Midnight Mass and Hereditary, the horror comes from the monsters within us and the monsters that are outside our understanding. That the stuff I love to dread on. >.>/

Haven't tried any of the Rune Factory games, but from the looks of the screenshots of the fifth game it looks like a lot of fun! Maybe I need to add that to my list of games that will be played... eventually. 😅

the 4th Rune Factor, so far, is the best. Tides of Destiny and Frontier were good too.

Yeah, I watch a lot of Korean and other Asian horrors because they focus more on the psychological/emotional aspect (God forbid I don't cry during one of the korean horror movies...), and then a few jump scares for fun. XD

I need to get on the train of watching shows and movies outside of the English range. It's tough when the hubby doesn't want to watch those kind of shows because they have subtitles and he doesn't want to read it. Yet the dubs are horrible and the lip syncs are terrible and my immersion into the story is almost impossible to latch on to. >.<"

Do you have any recommendations?

For getting started, I really liked the Wishing Corridors Series, The Red Shoes, Cinderella, etc. The Cat is good too, but damn did I cry. Lol.
