We looked into the report about the lack of messages counting toward total count in user profiles.
This was an admin-error when creating forums.
It should be fixed now.
All FUTURE threads should count to message counts, but any prior to this fix will not be (unless I find a way to mass fix it, which is unlikely at this time--sorry!).
