the name's cosmotellurian, feel free to call me "cosmo"! I'm 25 years old and female, for those who like to know, and I'm new to the site and hoping to find some writing partners for one or more of my silly little ideas!

here's a quick expansion on the need-to-know, if desired. . . ♡
➼ I'd consider myself an advanced writer who leans "lazy lit" -- I can (and will lol) write small novels for posts when it works, but I usually fall into a more relaxed post length (500 -1k words). I'm good with longer, I'm good with shorter (no less than 100 words, however). aside from one-liners/less than 100 words, I don't require a certain post length be met by me or my partner! whatever fits in the moment ♡ third-person, past tense is my go-to!

the empress' gladiator ***
➼ fantasy (high/low/medieval), court dynamics, secret romance // slave gladiator x new empress // tw: slavery, fantasy racism/elitists, war backdrop, violence
mc is the favorite daughter of the emperor; though she's last in line for the throne behind her half-brothers, she's avoided being married off like her half-sisters due to her father's favoritism and similarly enjoys relaxed expectations. hardly a favorite among the court however, who view her as a half-breed (born of the emperor and one of his harem wives who came from another land during the empire's expansion), mc is happy to remain in the background, forgotten, and keep to herself, enjoying a comfortable existence in the palace.
until tragedy strikes.
one night, assassins (part of a coup plotted among the emperor's own advisers) attack the palace, killing the princes in line for the throne as well as the emperor himself. in the bloody aftermath, several of the assassins and conspiring advisors are killed and taken prisoner by palace guards, but the loyal advisors remaining sense impending panic in the empire once the morning breaks in blood. desperate to maintain some semblance of control, they hastily seek out mc and crown her empress before dawn, thrusting her into a sudden and unfamiliar position of power.
unprepared for such a change, mc is uneasy and under pressure, the scrutiny of the entire empire now on her shoulders. with tensions still high and danger still assumed to be near, it's suggested that mc secure herself a personal bodyguard to accompany her as constantly as possible; she agrees, but in the days following her father's assassination she struggles to pick a companion.
an execution of the advisors and assassins still living is planned, set to be held in the capital's arena and carried out by the late emperor's favorite gladiator, in the emperor's honor -- yc. captured and enslaved in a battle fought in a far-off land (during the ongoing expansion wars waged by the late emperor and his forefathers), yc's battle prowess or perhaps his uniqueness saved him from execution; instead he was brought back to the capital to fight in the arena for the entertainment of his captors. despite being subjected to cruel treatment and looked down upon by the natural citizens of the empire, yc managed to survive and continually defeat his opponents. *
* (specific details about yc are entirely up to my writing partner -- what kind of kingdom/land he comes from, whether he's fully human, fully something else or a mix of both, how long he's been a slave fighter, how he feels about his circumstances, etc. etc.)
while attending the execution, mc sees yc in the arena and decides she wants him as her bodyguard (perhaps she never liked the arena practices and sees a capable fighter she might be able to offer a better life to, perhaps she feels a kind of kindred spirit with him, perhaps she feels she can't trust the guards at the palace, perhaps it's just a whim). while the court isn't pleased with this decision, the empress must be obeyed; after the execution yc is sent for and brought to the palace for a meeting with mc. she offers him a room in the palace near her own (in the imperial suites), proper accommodations and comforts (food, clothing, weapons), as well as pay. **

yc, whatever his reasons, accepts -- and the unlikely pair are drawn into the turbulence of court conspiracy, attempted assassinations, and an empire on the cusp of a new era... if mc can only push it over the edge. amid it all, they find themselves drawn ever closer, falling into feelings neither of them can deny for long. ***
** (more than happy to bounce ideas around for the plot beyond the opening scenario, though one of my main ideas -- aside from the obvious romance lol -- is that mc was largely unaware of the empire's dealings with other countries during the war and the cruel treatment of prisoners/slaves; through yc, she begins to realize there was a much darker side to her father's rule (and the rules of his forefathers) and comes to disapprove of the empire's dealings in many ways. mc wants to bring about change (largely inspired by yc) but the court is not on board. obviously this can be workshopped, and other ideas can be thrown in or can replace it! ♡)

space security **
➼ sci-fi (not-too-far future, near earth), unique slice-of-life, frenemies/coworkers-to-lovers // space port security guards ("veteran" x "rookie") // tw: ehh occasional violence??
Orbita is a unique space port circling earth, marketed largely as a luxury vacation destination, with artificial beaches, resort facilities (bars, clubs, casinos, etc.), various attractions, and luxury living accommodations. along with this, it also operates as an import/export station for space trade and travel between earth and other cosmic destinations. *
* (my initial thought was a star-trek vibe; earth humans are normal but so are interactions with alien species, and there's established relations between earth and various alien groups. space-travel is possible and somewhat common. I imagined Orbita is mostly human-populated, between wealthy patrons visiting from earth and the staff that keep the place running, from janitors to security to resort workers to engineers).
such an impressive facility with both high-importance clientele and various cargo coming and go, of course, requires security. Orbita houses two security forces -- Terra Secure, who mostly manages the low-risk details and resorts; and Star Force, a more militaristic group that handles high-risk situations and focuses on Orbita as a whole.
mc first came to Orbita as an officer for Terra Secure, where her dad had been working; quickly becoming unimpressed and dissatisfied with the less-than-ideal operating procedures of Terra Secure (unqualified officers, lack of repercussions, poor management), she reaches a breaking point when she and her partner are called to a disruption at one of the resort clubs; a fight breaks out and her partner abandons her, leaving her to fend for herself until Star Force shows up to intervene.
yc is a Star Force officer who responds to the scene. **

mc, embarrassed and angered by the situation, quits Terra Secure and applies for Star Force. with half the requirements already met by her Terra Secure employment, she quickly completes the training and is assigned as the patrol partner to none other than yc.
the two, despite the difference in personalities, make a good team and come to enjoy working together -- maybe a little more than they should. ***

I had originally come up with this idea as a personal short story... but I felt like it'd be a lot of fun to write with someone lol! as far as yc goes, my original thought was, as mentioned, that he'd be a snarky/sarcastic, generally abrasive type of person that everyone either tolerates or fears (or a little of both) for his lethality... which, in my personal brainstorming, I had decided came from the fact that he was actually created in a lab as one of many experiments to create the perfect soldier for "some" military out there lol, whether earth-based or some kind of alien force. although he performed well in field tests he was too "human", asked too many questions and wanted to do things his own way, once he realized he could, leading to the lab planning to terminate him; catching wind of this, he broke out and took to space, finding work as a mercenary before eventually winding up working with the cosmic security firm Star Force. if you want to run with this idea, be my guest!! that said, I'm more than happy if you want to come up with a backstory/etc. completely of your own creation and tweak the story however desired ♡)

curses & cures ***

mc is a young woman who accidentally angered a witch. in turn, the witch cursed her to take the form of a black unicorn -- the supposed evil counterpart of the ever-pure white unicorn. said to bring misfortune and herald death, black unicorns are widely disliked and feared, although sighting unicorns at all is very rare; thus, when trying to seek help from her family and home village, mc is run off and forced to abandon her home, roaming far lands and searching hopelessly for a way to break her curse. (I had imagined the curse might take a reverse werewolf, swan lake pattern, where mc is the black unicorn most of the time but becomes human again during certain lunar phases, like the new moon -- which would allow her to be human for a couple of days while being a unicorn the rest of the month. this could also be changed to something more frequent to allow for more character bonding, like every night/every other night transformations.)
I see three potential variations for this idea, depending on yc...
one, yc is a hunter who often tracks down and kills monsters (for a sum, of course), and when he's requested to hunt a black unicorn after several recent sightings he takes the job. after tracking the elusive bad omen, he moves in for the kill -- only to either find her being attacked by another magical creature and intervene or just in time to see her become human. either way, he now finds himself conflicted about the job he was paid for. mc, realizing yc specializes in creatures such as herself, begs him for his help in hunting down the witch who cursed her and/or breaking her curse.
two, yc is a cursed man himself, afflicted either similarly to mc (cursed by another entity -- maybe even the same witch) or born with a curse (inherited lycanthropy, perhaps?). maybe they hear word of the other's existence and grow curious, seeking each other out; or maybe they stumble across each other unexpectedly, realizing that they're more alike than they knew. either way, their curses help them find kindred spirits and comfort in each other, and they decide to venture together in an attempt to free themselves of the magic.
three, yc is a knight in search of a quest. while on his travels he spots an extremely rare black unicorn in the forest (or maybe a town he stops in requests he find it in the nearby woods and kill it to spare them misfortune); giving chase, he catches up with the creature just in time to see his quarry become a woman. he's a noble man, if somewhat confused, and offers her a hand to ask what he just witnessed -- she explains, and in her affliction he finds the perfect honorable quest: breaking a damsel free of her curse.
(I'm also more than happy to hear different takes on the idea, or your own propositions for yc! maybe he's a practitioner of magic himself; maybe he's a hermit living deep in the forests whose humble home mc stumbles across while human; maybe he's a king/prince who wants a black unicorn in his mythical menagerie; the possibilities really are endless! while mc's concept and character will remain the same, and the basic concept of breaking her free of her curse is any easy plot point, I feel like your preference for yc will play a big role in determining the plot as a whole!)

*disclaimer... I am by no means well-versed in cod lore! as stated previously, I've only played the recent mw2/3 campaigns and have stumbled across wayyy too many ai character chats lolol. so I'm not looking for something lore-heavy or canon, and will not be enraged if my partner writes a non-canon-accurate character haha. I'm primarily looking for an "au" -- essentially the canon world/story, but with creative liberties/artist's rendition allowed lol. now, onward!
I had a random character idea while listening to Don't Give Up by Ursine Vulpine (here, if you'd like to take a listen); I like taking ordinary characters and putting them in extraordinary settings/circumstances/company, and my idea was for a regular young woman who loses her family in a Konni/makarov terrorist attack (maybe the stadium attack in the flashback in mw3?). stricken with grief and the need for vengeance, she goes off-grid in attempts to track down Konni/the man responsible for her family's deaths (not makarov, but a bad guy of my own creation, often called "nine"). at some point she comes across valuable information (how/when she gets it and what it is is up for brainstorming! *), but in her efforts to track down nine she's been unknowingly complicating and thwarting TF141/SAS missions, making her a target. this segues into either her running into TF141/a member of TF141 or them running into/finding her.
* (I generally like to think it's something to do with her personal vendetta that, by association, involves important Konni/makarov information; for example, say she's trying to find nine and thus hunts down a list of projects/objectives/etc. in order to find out what he's involved with and where he'll be... destroying the source, she attempts to escape with the information, only to be intercepted by TF141/a member of TF141 who was after the same information for the sake of stopping Konni schemes.)
that's the barebones idea I want to work with -- more thoughts and details can be hashed out via pms! I want to say mc has been hunting nine for at least five years straight at the time of our rp, and has become extremely skilled at tracking down the information she needs (despite nine always somehow staying a few steps ahead of her) and maybe even has access to an extensive network of informants/suppliers that TF141 hasn't been able to access -- thus giving them a reason to offer a team-up. if she helps them get the information they need on Konni/makarov, they'll help her catch nine.
I had a random character idea while listening to Don't Give Up by Ursine Vulpine (here, if you'd like to take a listen); I like taking ordinary characters and putting them in extraordinary settings/circumstances/company, and my idea was for a regular young woman who loses her family in a Konni/makarov terrorist attack (maybe the stadium attack in the flashback in mw3?). stricken with grief and the need for vengeance, she goes off-grid in attempts to track down Konni/the man responsible for her family's deaths (not makarov, but a bad guy of my own creation, often called "nine"). at some point she comes across valuable information (how/when she gets it and what it is is up for brainstorming! *), but in her efforts to track down nine she's been unknowingly complicating and thwarting TF141/SAS missions, making her a target. this segues into either her running into TF141/a member of TF141 or them running into/finding her.
* (I generally like to think it's something to do with her personal vendetta that, by association, involves important Konni/makarov information; for example, say she's trying to find nine and thus hunts down a list of projects/objectives/etc. in order to find out what he's involved with and where he'll be... destroying the source, she attempts to escape with the information, only to be intercepted by TF141/a member of TF141 who was after the same information for the sake of stopping Konni schemes.)
that's the barebones idea I want to work with -- more thoughts and details can be hashed out via pms! I want to say mc has been hunting nine for at least five years straight at the time of our rp, and has become extremely skilled at tracking down the information she needs (despite nine always somehow staying a few steps ahead of her) and maybe even has access to an extensive network of informants/suppliers that TF141 hasn't been able to access -- thus giving them a reason to offer a team-up. if she helps them get the information they need on Konni/makarov, they'll help her catch nine.

*disclaimer... I am by no means well-versed in cod lore! as stated previously, I've only played the recent mw2/3 campaigns and have stumbled across wayyy too many ai character chats lolol. so I'm not looking for something lore-heavy or canon, and will not be enraged if my partner writes a non-canon-accurate character haha. I'm primarily looking for an "au" -- essentially the canon world/story, but with creative liberties/artist's rendition allowed lol. now, onward!
this one is similarly barebones and more of a vibe than a fleshed-out plot... I saw something about how some ranch owners will hire ranch hands/property managers/groundskeepers/etc. to live on and care or their ranch while they're gone for a season or some extended period of time. diving into my own little headcanons for phillip graves, I like the idea that maybe he owns a ranch of his own (in texas? hehe) but, being a pmc commander, he's not there as often as he needs to be to keep things running on his own. so he hires a ranch hand (or maybe more -- maybe a ranch hand and housekeeper, etc., for some extra background characters); this ranch hand would be my oc (a variant of the one mentioned in the first plot -- an un-traumatized au of herself? lol). I'm kinda hooked on the idea of her having a big ol' crush on graves, that maybe he doesn't realize/reciprocate until he's been back to his place and interacted with her a couple of times after hiring her. (maybe he didn't even realize he hired a woman and mistook her name/initials for a guy lol).

the ring ****

(this is based off a story I started with someone years ago on a now shut-down site (rip black dahlia) that only got like 6 posts in BUT was such a fun idea haha! I'd love to recreate it! as someone who wrote isekai as a child without even knowing was isekai was lol, I would love to explore the idea of a modern woman magically transported to a fantasy world and unintentionally becoming a major part of the ongoing war.)
mc is a young woman in the modern area. her life's not exactly the dream she would like it to be, but she can't complain... well, she can, but she tries not to. one day, she stumbles across a strange ring (how and where is up for discussion -- is randomly lying in the forest when she goes on a nature walk? does she find it in an antique store?) and, naturally, puts it on.
instead of finding out whether or not it fits, she instead finds herself waking up in a whole new world,* with a ring that won't come off.
* (would love to worldbuild a little and come up with some ideas for the fantasy land mc ends up in and yc calls home! the possibilities are endless ♡)
it doesn't take long for her to run into signs of civilization -- and with it, yc. yc is a soldier/knight for one side of the war, currently stationed at a camp working border patrol. he (and potentially some fellow knights) find mc wandering the wilds and detain her, uncertain of her alliances.
unbeknownst to mc, the ring (which can change appearances based on the wearer) was once the other half to a pair -- worn by siblings decades (or centuries?) ago, who, with the help of the rings, were both very powerful magic-users. but, as it so happened, one sibling (sibling b) decided they wanted all the magic for themselves, to rule the land with the combined power of both rings. so they demanded their sibling (sibling a) give up their ring; but the rings could only be removed by their wearers, and sibling a refused... prompting their counterpart to attack.
in the fight, sibling a struck a devastating blow and severed sibling b's hand, prompting sibling b to hastily cast their ring and severed hand into hiding. but the magic was desperate and uncontrolled. sibling a was forced to kill sibling b, and with their death their ring was presumed lost for good. sibling a continued to rule over and protect the land, and eventually passed away, destroying their ring to prevent anyone else from wrongly using its power. over the years the remaining lost ring was searched for, but never found, and left to become a legend.
over time, the world changed. currently, there are two kingdoms embroiled in war -- a war started by the most powerful magic-user there's been in a while, who's on the hunt for more magic... namely, the lost ring. it's been unable to be found since it's been in an entirely different world, but mc just unknowingly brought it back -- and to those sensitive to magic, its presence can be felt.
while yc and his camp (his rank can be discussed!) hold mc prisoner while trying to figure out who she is, they began to realize there's something peculiar about the ring that she's wearing -- one that none of them can seem to remove from her hand. just as they determine that she needs to be taken to the king of their country, the forces of the ring-hunting magic-user (titles are vague for the sake of collaborating lol) arrive at the camp, following the call of the ring.
yc and mc are forced to flee together as the camp is overrun and slaughtered, leaving them scrambling to stay ahead of the enemy's forces as they head to the capital of yc's kingdom. **
** (I'm happy to brainstorm this journey and what happens once they get to the capital and after; my original thought was that, during the journey, mc begins to exhibit signs magic via the ring, alongside her and yc growing closer. this stage of the story could be longer or shorter, depending on our preference. upon arriving at the capital, the current ruler decides they want mc to give them the ring so that they can obliterate the enemy... and more. unnerved by the ruler's ambition and fearing for their safety if they refuse to hand over the ring, yc and mc go on the run again... going to defeat the enemy magic-user themselves? maybe the ruler and enemy magic-user are one in the same? maybe they begin forming their own band of rebels/army? would love to hash this out with someone!)

(this one is also based off of an old rp that I really, really enjoyed and would love to create! the idea was originally based around my partner's character and interest in a "whump" story, where their character would eventually end up several injured and disabled and need the help of my character. we can explore this theme if desired or go a slightly less devastating route lol.)
in the distant future, humans have begun exploring the stars and colonizing far-off planets; mc is a member of one such colonization effort, stationed on a planet able to support human life but devoid of any aside from the colonizers. what there is a bounty of, however, are alien flora and fauna... the latter of which is where mc finds her role.
while she's not someone who would've typically been selected for a colonization mission (possessing neither doctorates, extreme proficiency is engineering, the sciences, or a military background)... she just so happened to have a relative who managed to get her a spot on the mission. her passion is animals and animal care; she's a bit of an outcast amid the group, but she's the most dedicated to learning about, documenting, and caring for the alien fauna found on the planet they're colonizing. over the past couple of years with the colony, she's built and worked a small ranch just outside of the main settlement.
yc is an operator for an organization that specializes in the termination of dangerous space-monsters (and occasionally takes bounty hunting jobs, I'd like to say). the organization's operatives come from all walks of life (and all corners of space).*
* (so yc's background can be entirely up to you; the partner I first wrote this story with had a character who was a very unique and physically impressive individual, from a long line of very unique and physically impressive individuals, and who had changed his name/went by his callsign and was very standoffish and cocky/well-convinced of his own invaluable status to the organization. he also had a personal scientific interest in alien fauna, giving him and mc something to bond over haha. this is by no means necessary for your character, but I do think it'd be fun if we borrowed the element of yc not wanting to tell mc his name/insisting on only going by his callsign... just because I like the idea of mc coming up with nicknames for him and weaseling his name out of him at some point lol.)
the planet mc is helping colonize is home to some very dangerous alien animals, but one in particular was the reason the military faction accompanying the colony applied for an operator [from the organization]. **
** (in the original story, this was a secret; the head military guy of the colony was an antagonist, who had an ulterior mission aside from colonizing, which was to mine a certain mineral found on the planet in pre-colony recon. last time the mining was attempted, this alien beast absolutely whooped the crew sent before being injured and retreating, seemingly to die. it hadn't been observed in about two years so the colonization mission was approved, with the ulterior job of mining/stripping the planet of various resources... but the space-monster-hunting organization was called to make sure that if the monster did happen to show up again, it would be terminated permanently and no longer interfere. in the original story, my partner's character wasn't made aware of the existence of this big bad monster, which left him confused as to why he was there when the colony's military installment could probably have handled the other dangerous alien animals around. we could keep this element or switch it out for something else, maybe just say there's a big bad monster that hasn't been documented yet, etc.)
mc is contacted by yc's organization to be yc's informant on the planet; she'll be given a frequency to contact him wherever he's stationed in the field, will be given access to his operator file, emergency contacts, and a vitals monitoring system along with a gps locator. in turn, she'll provide him with the information he needs about the local flora and fauna... as well as contacting the agency and his emergency contacts should he meet his unfortunate end while on duty. the organization often encourages friendly communication between their operators and their operators' planetary contacts, given the high rates of loneliness and depression often recorded by their monster-hunting agents who are constantly being sent from planet to planet, usually alone.
maybe yc is receptive to mc's attempts to chat, maybe he's not, maybe his secretly is but pretends to be irritated. either way, he and she form a [somewhat?] friendly connection over the radio (with one or both developing something of a crush on the other), and chatter on a frequency eventually turns into a plan to meet at a local, designated landing port for supply ships (with this plan was made by both sides or by one side without the knowledge of the other), which turns into yc setting up camp closer to mc (until maybe she suggests he just come stay with her?? she's got a colony-standard home after all, got to be better than a ship or a flimsy tent...).
however, signs of the dangerous animal start popping up at mc's ranch, prompting yc to start trying to hunt it down. ***
*** (in the original story, when my partner's character finally encountered the big bad monster, it caught him by surprise; although he ended up killing it, it severely wounded him in the fight and mc had to call for medical help from the colony and go retrieve him herself. this led to my original partner's main interest, which was their character losing an arm and an eye along with having his spine seriously injured, limiting his ability to do much more than limp around once healed enough to do so. this obviously disqualified him from continuing to be an operator for the organization, and prompted mc to offer caring for him in her home while he continued his recovery process, which would assumedly have turned into her being a kind of caregiver for him. if anyone wants to try recreating this idea, I'm down; I'd also be very interested in an alternate idea however, with yc potentially being hurt enough to be put on leave and be unable to leave the planet/needing to recover, where mc could again offer to house him and help him while he's on the mend... although this time he's not completely debilitated [it's the future after all, we could always say medicine's just that good those days or even that he got bionic parts/cybernetic implants to help him make a full recovery] and makes an eventual but full recovery. by the time he does however, he and mc would be properly in love and either he quits the organization to stay with her, or she leaves the colony to travel and work with him. or something else! happy to brainstorm ♡)
