July 1998

The mid-western town of Raccoon City is facing a mysterious crisis. From mid-May to July, several victims were found murdered by supposed animal attacks in the surrounding Arklay Mountains. The Raccoon City Police Department closed all access to the forest, as new information suggests that the recent victims were attacked by human beings, as the bodies were cannibalized by the attackers. On July 23, after yielding no other results, the police assigned their very own Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S) to investigate these attacks. Bravo Team consists of Captain Enrico Marini, Forrest Speyer, Kenneth Sullivan, Richard Aiken, Edward Dewey, and Rebecca Chambers. Enrico, Edward, and Rebecca drove into the forest while the others took a helicopter to scan the area. The ground team's destination is a small hamlet that has put in a 911 call, as it could be linked to the case.

The ground vehicle reached the hamlet and Enrico conducted their investigation. The houses looked abandoned, but it soon became clear that it was the aftermath of carnage. They encountered a man nearby, and when they tried to help, the civilian attacked them. Soon, more came from the houses, which caused the group to flee. They tried to get in contact with Richard, and were successful as the helicopter landed after a malfunction, but were attacked, which caused the death of the pilot, Kevin Dooley. The captain orders a rendezvous, and the trio quickly makes it to a farm before encountering a bear. This creature was extremely hostile and attacked them, but they killed it. After the encounter, they stayed until the other half of the Bravo team arrived and regrouped.

Enrico aborts the mission and wants to return to the city, but must find another means of doing so. They cannot return to the hamlet, so they are stuck on the path that leads them to an abandoned water treatment facility. The place is infested with mysterious creatures, including leech-like humanoids. Bravo Team explores the factory, surviving their encounters with the monsters, looking for any kind of solution. It was quickly discovered that this place was the property of Umbrella Inc, a pharmaceutical company that helped fund Raccoon City projects thanks to its influence.

Underneath the facility is a laboratory complex and dorms, where they discover that this was a hidden facility where they kept their experiments in storage. One such example is a giant leech queen that stalks its prey around the complex. Their salvation comes when it is discovered that there is a warehouse that might lead them close to civilization. Enrico was assumed dead as he was separated from his team, and they had no choice but to continue. The leech queen interferes once again, as the Bravo team takes a stance against the creature in the warehouse, quickly discovering that it has a great weakness to sunlight. Edward sacrifices himself for his teammates, which gives them enough time to bathe the leech in sunlight to weaken it before dealing the final blow.

Epilogue
Bravo Team escapes from the warehouse to greet the dawn, not any closer to the city, but now looking over a mysterious mansion. Having no other options, the survivors make their way to the house, trading one nightmare for another.

July 24

Although hours have passed since Bravo Team's investigation, none have returned from their mission. On the orders of their captain, Albert Wesker, the Alpha Team is formed to rescue their lost teammates. It consists of Wesker, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Joseph Frost, and their pilot, Brad Veckers. At night, they went into the Arklay Mountains, finding Bravo Team's chopper. After landing, the team investigates the dark woods, reaching the helicopter and finding the pilot dead. Joseph was mauled to death by a pack of bloodthirsty Dobermans who chased the Alpha Team. They are saved when they reach a mansion nearby and enter the large foyer. A gunshot is heard, and they investigate in the dining room, where they find fresh blood in front of the fireplace. Wesker orders Chris and Jill to go into the next room, leading them into a hallway where they find the source of the noise. Their comrade, Kenneth, has been murdered and is in the process of being eaten by a zombie. The creature turns to attack them, but they flee back to the dining room, where the zombie follow them. The Alpha team kills it, confirming that the Bravo team is indeed here, but decides to split up to cover more ground. Chris with Wesker, and Jill with Barry.

Chris Redfield

There are more zombies roaming the halls, along with animals such as dogs and crows that are extremely hostile and deadly. The mansion itself contains secrets, crafted puzzles, and traps. Chris and Wesker are forcefully separated, but the former manages to find Rebecca safe and sound in the first aid room. She explains what happened in the past 24 hours, how the zombies were the ones responsible for the murders, and that they had to survive at the water treatment plant. Richard was also in the room, very injured and under the medic's care. He warns him of a giant snake that roams the library, also giving him his radio just in case. They part ways for now, as Chris continues to try to find more survivors.

The radio picks up Brad's frequency as the pilot tries to get in contact with the survivors, but Chris cannot answer as the radio is partially broken. He explores the cemetery, taking him to the dormitories that are adjacent to the mansion. It was infested with wasps, but he took care of the problem with pesticide. Before he explored further, he found Wesker alive. The captain orders him to return to the mansion to protect Rebecca and Richard after confirming that they are alive, as they are probably the only Bravo Team members left, while he offers to look for Jill and Barry. Chris obeys as he returns to the mansion.

Afterwards, he is menaced by a new type of creature, the Hunter. He finds that there are more than one of them roaming the house, and saves Rebecca in the nick of time before being killed by one of them. She explained that Richard had recovered, but was separated from him by the hunters that appeared, luring them away. He goes to try to save him, and he ends up in the library, where he finally encounters the large snake. Richard sacrifices his life to save him, being devoured whole. Chris kills the viper in revenge before returning to Rebecca, making it his mission to get into contact with Brad, as he is their only hope of escape.

After gathering what they needed, they head back to the foyer and reunite with Jill and Barry. They gave the tragic news of Enrico's death, but now have the means to gain access to a secret entrance behind the foyer stairs.

Jill Valentine

Meanwhile, Jill and Barry discovers Forest's dead body on the balcony, but they continue onward towards the library, which is home to a gigantic viper. They escape, but Jill was poisoned, in which case her partner saves her life with serum. They split up by accident, as Jill travels through the cemetery and encounters a mysterious creature that renders her unconscious while exploring a dilapidated cabin. She woke up in time to evade the creature and entered the dormitory building. She heard human voices in one of the rooms, but after listening in for a while, she finds Barry in it alone, dismissing her concerns. Underneath the dorms is a small laboratory complex that has an aqua ring that houses experimental sharks. They drained the water to kill them, but also found plant roots that were alive and dangerous. Using the lab to their advantage, they created a J-Volt plant killer and used it on the roots. Plant 42, a monstrous plant that resides in the dorms attacks them, but Barry found a flamethrower and used it to kill it.

After it's death, they found information about catacombs nearby. It holds the key to gaining access to a larger laboratory complex under the mansion. This is when they encounter hunters on the way, but they avoid them as much as possible. Inside, there is a secret hole which contains the grave of George Trevor, a famous architect from the 1960s who suddenly disappeared along with his wife and daughter. They found his journal, in his words he created the mansion at the request of Earl Ozwell Spencer, who planned to have him killed after its completion, but the architect died in the hole he was trapped in. The entrance to the catacombs is in the lower courtyard, and they used the means to get there.

To their surprise, they found Enrico alive but injured, the man trying to warn them of a traitor in their ranks. Before he could say much, he was assassinated, the figure fled the scene before they could catch them. Having no other choice, they venture into the catacombs, avoiding the giant spiders as best as they can while also escaping various traps. The creature in chains returns to hunt them, but they outrun it at every turn. Secrets are revealed when they find research papers of scientists experimenting on a woman and her child, named Jessica and Lisa Trevor. Jessica died during the experiments, but her daughter survived, subjected to testing for a retrograde virus that physically and mentally deteriorated her over the years. The scientists kept her in the caverns, using her as a wellspring for various viruses that they extracted from her body.

They found her makeshift lodging, where they took the key they had been looking for and escaped via ladder, which took them back to the cabin outside the mansion. Jill and Barry reunited with Chris and Rebecca in the foyer, telling them that they had the key to the underground labs.

Alpha Team

They found themselves in the caverns, and at the end, there was a stone coffin in the middle, surrounded by a bottomless cliff. Lisa comes in to attack them, but the STARS members open the coffin where Lisa's mother was buried. She takes the skull, then willfully jumps into the chasm, clearing the way forward. However, the laboratory complex is infested with zombies as well, but regardless, they explore the place. They found a horrible secret: that this mansion and everything in it was the property of Umbrella Inc, a world-famous pharmaceutical company. They have been secretly experimenting with their creation, the T(Tyrant)-Virus, in this location. It has the terrible effect of turning humans and animals into the undead. An accident leaked the virus around the mansion, dooming this place and the people inside.

The STARS members took the elevator deeper into the lab, and found Wesker there, as he showed his true colors. He was the traitor and Enrico's assassin. At that point, he orders Barry to hold them at gunpoint, as he reveals the man as his pawn. The truth is that STARS have been sent into the woods and mansion as guinea pigs to test the might of their virus and record combat data for the company. He forced Barry to go along with the plan after threatening the safety of his family, but intended for all of the members to die. In order to complete the job, he shows them one of the lab's successful projects, the T-002, also known as the Tyrant. An 8-foot humanoid inside of a tube. Barry turns on Wesker as he injures him, but it is too late as the liquid drains the tube, awakening the beast. It stabs Wesker through the glass, killing him, and then it turns its attention to the survivors. With their combined effort, they subdued the Tyrant.

Chris informs them that Brad is still around and that they can use the elevator to get to the roof and use signal flares to escape. Rebecca also suggested using the facility's self-destruct system to destroy this place, and they all agreed to the plan. They first manually set the destruction in motion, then ran for their lives as they made it to the roof and used the flares to attract the helicopter's attention. The tyrant follows the survivors to the roof, confronting them one last time. Brad, hovering from above, drops a rocket launcher, which is used to kill the tyrant. The survivors escaped just in time before the mansion's destruction. At sunrise, the remaining STARS members return to Raccoon City after surviving their nightmarish ordeal, knowing Umbrella's dangerous secrets. They all agree to expose the company's crimes, and upon their return to the city, they inform their chief of the events of the mansion, but he dismisses their claims. Barry returns home to find his family safe and sound. The next day, STARS was disbanded due to the loss of many of its members, planning to replace them with a swat team in the near future.

Phoenix Ashes

Unbeknownst to the fleeing alpha team, Wesker revives from the dead from a powerful virus he was injected that activated when he expired. He soon tried to retrieve the data from the main computer, only to be thwarted by an outside source. Cutting his losses, he begins his escape from the mansion, testing his new superhuman abilities. Lisa Trevor unexpectedly blocks his way at every turn, but he wears her down long enough to smash a chandelier on her body before escaping the mansion's destruction. Cutting ties with Umbrella completely, he goes into hiding afterwards, working with another organization to achieve his goals for the future.

Sept 22nd

Underneath Raccoon City is the NEST Facility, a hidden Umbrella research complex in which Head Researcher William Birkin in charge. The Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S) infiltrated the facility and located Dr. Birkin. They are here to seize the research and the new virus that he created, called the G(Golgotha) Virus. He resisted, in which he became gravely injured as the agents took both samples of T and G viruses, then left. William's wife, fellow researcher Annette Birkin, found him and went to fetch first aid. William, wanting revenge, injected the G-virus into his body, allowing him to mutate into a G-Mutant. He chased the assailants through the sewers and caused a massacre. During the battle, vials of T-Virus were released into the sewers, infecting the rats and soon contaminating the water supply.

Sept 24

The past 2 days have seen surges of increasing violent activity as people displayed severe symptoms of the infection. The sick and injured are sent to the hospital, which is filling to capacity, and the Pentagon has taken notice of what is happening in Raccoon City after being briefed about the T-Virus leak. They began a cover-up, informing the press of a radioactive leak and beginning a joint operation with the RPD and the fire department to investigate. Outside the city, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) placed an exclusion zone of 200 miles around the area. Evacuation efforts have been made for the citizens who wanted to leave, setting up helicopters to fly evacuees out since ground access has been closed off. Roadblocks were formed to halt the spread of the violence, and they were given strict orders to kill the unruly. Despite this, many Raccoon citizens were ignorant of how serious the situation was about to escalate and went about the day as usual.

Outbreak

That night, a small establishment called J's Bar had seven patrons and two workers. Kevin Ryman, Alyssa Ashcroft, Mark Wilkins, Bob Monroe, Jim Chapman, George Hamilton, and David King are inside. Yoko Suzuki walks into the bar minutes later, only to go into the women's restroom. The waitress, Cindy Lennox, is the only server on the floor, while her co-worker, Will Sanders, is the only bartender. A news report on a violent riot at the Raccoon Stadium spills onto the streets, along with several other points around the city that are experiencing the same thing.

A shabby customer walks in, and Will walks over, unaware that this person is a zombie until it is too late. It attacked him, biting into his neck, which gave him a mortal wound. Kevin, being an officer, manages to pry the zombie off and kicks it out of the bar, but more start to appear outside, trying to break inside. Realizing the danger, the patrons decided to work together to escape. Will dies from his wound. Bob becomes increasingly sick and infected with the virus, but Mark supports him as the group follows Cindy to the rooftop to find escape.

After reaching the rooftop, Bob's condition was worse, and he was quickly dying. He is aware of his fate, so he sacrifices himself to keep from turning. They reach the streets by jumping across a building close enough to the roof and making their way down. The police set up a checkpoint near the bar, and the eight survivors fled for their lives. Chaos has spread throughout the city as people are fleeing, fires are raging, and the police and firefighters are doing what they can.

Officer Raymond Douglas and other officers were at the checkpoint directing the citizens while fighting off the approaching zombies until they were overwhelmed. He led the survivors down the side streets, but their escape route was blocked by mutated earwigs. Taking an alternate route near the canal, Raymond was ambushed by the creatures and died. At the end, there was an abandoned gas tanker that the survivors used to burn the creatures, but had to jump into the canal to avoid the explosion. The group were separated in the sewers. Kevin, George, Cindy, and Mark exited via ladder and emerged in front of the Apple Inn, where Officer Dorian Quintin was waiting for survivors for evacuation. The survivors convinced him to wait for the others, believing them to be close.

Hellfire

David, Yoko, Alyssa, and Jim enter into the courtyard of the Apple Inn, A three story hotel building. They investigated the nearby boiler room after an explosion which caused the deaths of two firefighters. They have no choice but to press forward, as half of the hotel is in flames and is infested with zombies. After making it into the security room, they found out that they could use a security door to reach the lobby and freedom outside, but the door is locked, and needs a special gemstone to open it.

They search the hotel for this gem, and also encounter evolved creatures called Lickers. They are blind, and the survivors use this advantage to sneak around and finally find what they are seeking and return to the room to use it.

Before they could leave, a Licker blocked their way to the exit, and had no choice but to fight it until they kill it. A firefighter brigade arrived, and helped the survivors escape the burning building and reunite with the others at Dorian's van.

Outbreak part 2

Dorian escorted the eight survivors in his van, but had to stop at the alley because of a roadblock, and the group had no choice but to move on foot, but was allowed to have any weapons and supplies in the van while the officer stayed behind. The group went up to Main Street, only to come across a horrible sight.

Main Street was flooded with zombies, but three officers planted explosives to destroy the horde, but two of the officers were killed. Thankfully, with help from the survivors, they detonated the bomb, destroying the horde and Main Street. They were escorted to safety when RPD reinforcements arrived afterwards.

Wild Things

The eight survivors were dropped off at the back entrance of the Raccoon City Zoo, one of the evacuation points. Kevin is tasked with getting the seven civilians to exit on the other side of the zoo. The survivors walk through the gates, only to be attacked by a zombified bull elephant. They manage to escape the creature, finding out quickly that some of the animals are zombified as well. They hid in the administrative building, where they found the few remaining zoo staff hiding. They explain that they were helping with the evacuation effort all day before the outbreak, but are trapped because of the undead animals roaming outside. The only way to stop the elephant Oscar is to trap it and kill it, as it is the biggest threat that needs to be eliminated. The only way to stall the beast is to lure it into the elephant stage and lock the gates so it won't escape. The only weapons that they have are hunting rifles that can take down a creature of massive size. The survivors agree to kill Oscar so they can escape, and they are given the rifles.

They reach Oscar's stage, luring it in with music and trapping the beast, finding its weak point with the hunting rifle before killing it. The survivors made it to the end of the zoo, where a tram would take them to the evacuation point, but were stopped by a zombified lion and his lionesses. Thankfully, these survivors were equipped with weapons to fight off the lions and kill them. Afterwards, the group took the tram, but misfortune struck as they made it to their destination, only to find the helicopter destroyed along with its passengers. With their escape in flames, they had no choice but to find shelter in the town for now.

Sept 25

The US Army and the National Guard conducted a full scale quarantine of Raccoon City, preventing anyone from leaving or entering on foot. Rescue operations were still being made to get the uninfected citizens out of the city via helicopters, in which the city's mayor, Michael Warren, quickly fled the city. In doing so, he left behind his adult daughter, Katherine. Most survivors fled to the RPD for shelter, as the officers were doing their best to protect the citizens from the undead threat, only made harder when Chief Brian Irons issued unusual orders to weaken their efforts to combat the zombies, such as scattering weapons, ammo, and first aid around the station and cutting off safe routes.

Sept 26

The bulk of the RPD and Raccoon SWAT, on orders from Irons, faced the growing zombie threat head on. At the same time, the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service(UBCS) arrives to assist the rescue effort and combat the zombies. Both operations ended in failure as the overwhelming undead horde on the streets massacred the officers, and the UBCS with very few survivors scattered.

Raccoon General Hospital ceases operations as it was overwhelmed by patients turning into zombies, killing or infecting the staff. Also, mutated leeches infested the underground sewers and stalks for blood.

The Hive

Regardless, George leads the group inside, hoping to gather medicine and other supplies. One other doctor, Johan Hersh, helped the survivors by turning on auxiliary power for the building so that they could use the elevator. He informs them of a small sewer way underneath the hospital that they can escape to, since the front door is swarmed by zombies. Dr Hersh was killed by a swarm of leeches that took over his body and controlled him like a puppet. The leeches hunted the survivors throughout the hospital, but George thought of a way to kill the leeches by using a temperature control room. They lure the leech man using blood packets to keep it distracted, and raise the controls to high heat to rid themselves of the horrid creatures. Once the leechman is dead, they lower the temperature and take Hersh's keycard to gain access to the underpass. When they get there, the tunnels are occupied by the Leech Queen, which controls an entire colony. The queen fights the survivors, but is killed. The survivors walk through the underpass and enter the sewers, trying to find a way out.

Below the Freezing Point

The NEST facility, as above, is in chaos. The scientists and staff were attacked by escaped experiments, leaving few researchers left. Dr. Monica Hilton took this opportunity to steal a capsuled G-Embryo and attempted to leave NEST, even killing a surviving co-worker. Yoko found the entrance into the facility through a secret tunnel, and came across Monica, holding her at gunpoint. She seems to know Yoko, but the young woman doesn't remember any previous encounters. Monica abandons her and the rest of the survivors who have made it through the tunnel and into the facility. They've discovered that it belongs to Umbrella and are in charge of the creation of various creatures. Yoko found some kind of familiarity with this facility despite never visiting this place according to her. They meet with a dying researcher, telling the survivors that they can escape to the upper level, where a turntable can take them to the surface.

Meanwhile, Monica tried to use the very same turntable, but the upper part of the facility was frozen solid, so the machinery were stuck unless the ice is melted. She is then attacked by a creature, which breaks the case she was holding, and the G-Embryo awakens, entering her body.

The survivors reached the upper levels, finding frozen hunters. The only way for the turntable to get them out of NEST is to find the controls to raise the temperature. To do this, they used a blowtorch to unfreeze the controls, and the heat returned to normal. It came at the cost of releasing the Hunters from their frozen prison, but the survivors reached the turntable as it activated. Monica was too late in reaching it in time, but she was soon killed by the G-Larvae within her body, bursting through her chest and crawling up the wall.

When the lift reached the rail yard, the larvae caught up, transforming into its completed form. By using the locomotive to ram the creature and using their weapons, they killed the G mutant, and used the train to try and escape.

Sept 27

Flashback

Alyssa and three other survivors are in the northeast of Raccoon Forest after they failed to escape completely and were separated from the other four, but found shelter in a cabin. Its owner, named Al, greets them and offers to guide them through the forest for safety, and they take it. The old man kept to his word, but suddenly disappeared, which forced the survivors to follow this path until they found an abandoned building and went inside. It is a dilapidated hospital, but Alyssa has a sudden memory flash of being here once before. Suddenly, they are chased by a man with a black mask wielding an ax, guns and other weapons, only slowing him down just enough to get away. They quickly realized that mutated plant growth was all around the building, preventing them from leaving. The only chance they have is to weaken the plant with chemicals so they can escape. Files left behind reveal that this hospital was a front for testing illegal drugs on patients, and Al was the administrator before it closed five years ago. Alyssa still has flashes of scattered memories of a co-worker named Kirk who was killed here, hindering her enough to be kidnapped by the Axeman. He took her to the basement, where the core of the plant lies. He revealed himself to be Al. His late wife, Dorothy, was a patient here, trying to find a cure for her terminal illness, but wasn't successful. The drugs mutated the plant, and he cares for it, believing it to be the reincarnation of Dorothy. He kidnapped people in the woods to feed it, and planned on doing the same to her. Thankfully, the chemicals poisoned the plant enough for the other survivors to kill it and rescue Alyssa. Al tried to stop them, but he retreated to the basement as the building started to collapse. The core spills out Dorothy's corpse, and Al resigns to his fate as he is crushed under the concrete.

The hospital was destroyed, but the survivors made it out in time.

Retracing their steps, they returned to Al's cabin where they find a survivor, Regan, taking shelter. She explains that she and her daughter Lucy fled the city and took their chance to escape using the forest, but was separated after they were attacked. She asked them to search for her daughter and handed them a pendant to show her that they can be trusted, and in exchange would help them escape since she is a frequent hiker and knows the layout. They agree, and went out into the forest to look for the girl. Thankfully, they found her at the river bank and showed her the pendant and Lucy returned to the cabin with the survivors.

After mother and daughter reunites, Regan kept her word and became a guide on the trail, leading them to a bridge. However, the bridge can only carry two people at a time, and insist that Regan and Lucy go first as they held back the BOWs that were approaching. The pair made to the other side safely, but the bridge gave way with no other way. They had to flee, as there were too many BOWs to take on, but told Regan and Lucy to move without them.

Having no other choice, they return to the city.

Underbelly

After returning to the city, the four survivors quickly took shelter inside the underground subway station, which was Jim's workplace. He comes up with a plan to use the train to escape the city, since Raccoon City is connected to the neighboring town of Stoneville. They check the tunnels and find that one train is intact, but they have to separate the front cart by placing two mask emblems in between. With his guidance, he led them through the service tunnels to find the emblems, but found another problem; they lacked the electrical power to activate the trains. It can be easily fixed; they just need to find a valve and strong tape to patch up the pipes.

After searching, they used the valve to drain the water and fix the pipes. They restored the power and distributed it, also finding the first emblem. They return to place it where it belongs, only to encounter giant fleas that appear from the vents, seeking blood.

An automated announcement was heard on the intercom that a train would be coming. It was reactivated by a power surge, but it derailed and crashed into the debris, blocking the tunnels and causing a fire. Fortunately, the sprinkler system turned on and extinguished the inferno, revealing the other emblem among the debris. The survivors quickly placed it in its slot, and used the train to finally leave the stations, but they didn't make it far as the track was blocked by a giant flea and its brood.

The survivors hold out long enough to kill the creature, but their path is still blocked off, and they are trapped in the tunnels. With little choice, Jim leads them into a maintenance shaft to escape the station and back into the streets.

Jill Valentine escapes from her apartment as it is no longer safe, running through the side streets while avoiding the zombies. She met another survivor, Dario Rosso, and they hid in the safety of a warehouse in Uptown.

Sept 28

Desperate Times

Kevin has led the group of survivors into the RPD Station, where officer Marvin Branagh and a handful of officers are all that is left of the entire police force. They tell the survivors their plan is to leave the station. Underneath the goddess statue in the lobby is a tunnel, but it's only big enough for a petite woman or a child to crawl through. Officer Rita Philips is the only person who can fit into the tunnel. However, they need to find the metal plates that are scattered around the station to reveal it. Zombies and Lickers roam the halls, and some of the officers are killed, but all the plates are found. Rita is given a radio and crawls through the tunnel to find a vehicle suitable for evacuation.

An hour later, a large gathering of zombies broke through the front gate, invading the courtyard. The survivors held their ground long enough for Rita to return with a van. Kevin and the three other survivors made it, while Marvin was too injured to join them. With little choice, they leave him behind at his insistence.

Nemesis

Jill, still hiding in the warehouse with Dario, decided to venture outside to find some kind of escape. Dario refuses to accompany her, and she goes outside alone. Since she is in Uptown, she heads to the RPD to see its status, but is met with an unexpected surprise. Her comrade, Brad Veckers, was still alive and she met him inside of a bar. He warns her of a creature that has been chasing him all day and agrees to meet with her at the police station to keep this mysterious creature at bay. Jill made it to the front courtyard, quickly followed by an injured Brad before being killed by the creature, a new Tyrant named Nemesis. It quickly turns its attention to Jill, but she seeks refuge in the RPD. She runs to the STARS office, finding a shotgun but also hearing an emergency radio broadcast that there are survivors. Jill decided to abandon the station to locate the survivors, all while avoiding the Nemesis, still in pursuit. She loses him and seeks refuge in the Grill 13 restaurant, where she meets UBCS soldier Carlos Oliviera. They both worked together to incapacitate Nemesis for the time being, and he took Jill to meet with his surviving teammates at the tram station.

She meets with Nikolai Zinoviev and the injured captain, Mikhail Viktor, inside of the tram car. They told her of the plan, to use the train to travel safely to the St. Michael Clocktower for evacuation. The problem is that they need a fuse and gas to fix the train, which are found in two locations: Stagla Gas Station and the Substation. Jill volunteers to help them, and they accept. Nicholai disappeared during the search and was assumed dead as Jill witnessed his supposed demise, and after trials and tribulations, gathered what they needed and fixed the tram. Carlos mans the front while Jill stays with Mikhail in the back. Nemesis crashes through the tram, and the captain sacrifices himself to save the two survivors and blows up the back tram. Because of the explosion, they had no choice but to use the emergency brakes, but even that was ineffective, as the train crashed into the entrance of the clocktower.

Jill and Carlos survived the crash, and he told her that a helicopter would be waiting for them. All they needed to do was to activate the bells in the tower. The clocktower is infested with spiders, and they found the corpses of another UBCS team that failed. They placed the missing cogs in the mechanism, activating the clocktower's bells. The helicopter comes, but Nemesis destroys it and parts of the building with a rocket launcher. Jill falls into the garden, and the tyrant injures her using its tentacles. She fights back, managing to burn her pursuer in the surrounding fire, but falls unconscious afterwards. Carlos saves her and hides her in the inner chapel for safety.

Sept 29

A major transition in the Pentagon's efforts to control the situation shifted when the soldiers who guard the quarantine sustain heavy casualties from infected evacuees. They are ordered to retreat, leaving any remaining survivors in the city for dead, and the only soldiers left in the city are on special assignment. Because of the government's cover ups through the media and other sources, the outside world has no idea of the deteriorating state of Raccoon City, and very few people travel to the town through the broken blockades, walking into extreme danger. Three of them are a truck driver who became infected at a gas station, Leon Kennedy, a rookie police officer, and Claire Redfield, a college student. The duo enters the town, Claire stopping inside of a diner while Leon stops on the road after finding a dead body. He became surrounded by zombies, entering an alleyway where he encountered Claire after saving her life. They found a police car and took it to travel to the RPD. She found a gun in the glove department, having some experience using a firearm. A zombie that was hiding in the back attacks them, causing the car to crash into a pole, violently ejecting the zombie.

The truck from earlier comes in, the trucker zombified at the wheel, heading towards their car. Leon and Claire rushed out of the car in time before the truck crashed into it. They were separated, but agreed to meet at the station.

Leon part A

The rookie runs through the streets, taking the long route with little choice. He arrives at Kendo Gunshop and meets with the owner, Robert Kendo. He had to escape as the zombies broke into the shop and killed Kendo, going through the alleyways and entering the front gate of the RPD courtyard. The main lobby was empty, and Leon went around to try and find any survivors, but was shocked when a helicopter crashed on the roof. On the ground floor, he found Claire and reunited with her, and the two of them found Marvin, still alive. He explains what he knows about the situation, and that Raccoon City is lost. He gives them his key card to look for any survivors that were left behind before dying and becoming zombified. Leon killed him, planning to fulfill his wish and leave the town.

The duo found the STARS office, where they found a diary from Chris' desk and gave it to Claire, since it belongs to her brother. He gives her a radio in the event that they separate. Going into the hallway, they spotted a little girl running away from them, and followed her until they couldn't. They have made it their mission to find her. Along the way, a T-013 (Mr.X) Tyrant crashes through the ceiling and chases the pair. Leon is forced away from Claire, but manages to evade the pursuit of the tyrant.

He found another survivor in the underground parking lot, Ada Wong, who saved his life from the zombie dogs. She is here to look for an investigative reporter who is hiding somewhere in the station, but when Leon doesn't have the information she needs, she leaves him to continue the search. He does find Ben Bertolucci alive, locked in his cell. Ada caught up with him, asking him about the whereabouts of her lover, John, who went missing. He explains that he is more than likely dead as he has not heard from him for two months. John worked for Umbrella, but had been sending Ben information in secret before his demise. He has the file proving that Brian Irons took bribes from the company and did their dirty work and is planning to release it to the press. He tells them of a possible escape route, through the underground sewer facility and refuses to leave until he knows it is a guaranteed escape. Leon and Ada reluctantly work together to investigate it.

They found the entrance nearby and found a high vent on the other side of a locked door. Ada goes through with Leon's help, finding a key, but no way to open the door. She throws the key for him, then leaves to find another way around. He has no choice but to return to the RPD station for now, and Claire contacts him, letting him know she found the girl and is safe. He then warns her of Chief Irons when she confirms that she met him, and that he might have a way out, telling her to meet him at the cells where Ben is.

He made it first before anyone, and found Ben after something ripped through his cell and got to him. He lived long enough to hand him the files in his possession before being ripped apart by a G-Larvae that escaped into the sewers. He follows the creature, and kills its adult form before reuniting with Ada, as he pleads with her to work together, which she agrees to. Going further into the facility, they encountered a woman with a gun. Leon takes a bullet in the shoulder while protecting Ada as the woman flees. He is rendered unconscious, and she pursues the woman, who happens to be Annette.

She manages to flee from Ada, but the pursuit is far from over, as she has another agenda.

Claire part A

The girl finds herself closer to the RPD, entering through the car lot, bearing witness to a police helicopter trying to leave the station, but crashes into the roof. In the courtyard, she reunites with Leon and meets with Marvin, who was alive at the time and explains the situation. The reason Claire came to the city was to find her brother, Chris, a former member of STARS who suddenly stopped communicating with her. He left town a month ago, but he doesn't know where he is. After Marvin dies and travels to the STARS office, Leon finds Chris' diary in which he gave her. Based on the writings, he has traveled to Europe to investigate the company responsible for this tragedy. She is determined to survive this crisis to find her brother. Leon gives her a radio just in case.

In the hallway, they saw a little girl fleeing from them, and they tried to catch her, but it was no use. Fearing for her safety, they tried to find her but encountered Mr. X and had to separate. Claire explores the third floor, entering into the chief's office where she finds the dead body of a young woman on the desk and Brian Irons sitting there dismayed. He bemoans his failure to protect the mayor's daughter, Kathrine, and laments the state of his town. He asks her to leave, and she reluctantly does. Claire finds the girl, whose name is Sherry, and radios Leon about her success. Sherry explains that an unknown monster is chasing after her, but agrees to stay with the older girl. Before meeting with Leon at the cells, she decides to go back to the chief's office, but finds him and the body missing, only to hear screaming from a secret entrance hidden in the office.

Claire investigates while hid Sherry in the office, going down in a lift into a dungeon where Brian is hiding. Revealing his sinister nature, he admits to murdering Katherine and is on Umbrella's payroll, working closely with the scientist William Birkin, who is Sherry's father and the creator of the G-Virus. Before he could do anything else, he was killed by William, whom Claire had disposed of for now. Reuniting with Sherry, they leave for the sewers to meet with Leon. Mr. X found itself in the sewers as well, looking for the survivors, but the two girls evaded it. Sherry accidentally slipped deeper into the facility.

Sept 30

Leon/Claire part B

Leon regains consciousness and is found by Claire. The bullet was removed and his shoulder was patched up, most likely by Ada. Together, they search the waste disposal facility for Sherry and find her on a pile of rubbish before being attacked by a mutated undead crocodile. They killed it by using gas canisters that it picked up in its mouth and exploded. Upon receiving the girl, she became extremely sick, unable to move. When Annette found the trio, Sherry acknowledged her as her mother before passing out. She begs them for help, realizing that William has found her, and her only means of survival is within the NEST Facility beneath the plant. She guides them to the train turntable and descends.

Annette explains the cause of Raccoon's City's downfall, and how the G-Virus functions. William will mutate as time passes, and the reason he went after Sherry is that the virus drives him to seek people that share relations with the host to infect and create copies. Those who do not share DNA with the host are rejected. The only way to cure Sherry of the larva inside of her is with the DEVIL vaccine, which can be made inside of NEST. She also warns them not to trust Ada Wong, since she knows the truth that she is a spy, much to Leon's disbelief.

The turntable reaches the facility, and places Sherry in a room so they can find the vaccine. The girl was carrying a golden pendant with her, and Annette reveals that there was a G-Virus sample hidden inside, needed to make the vaccine, and the reason Mr. X has been following them. The tyrant appeared, and Leon lures it away as a distraction while Claire goes for the DEVIL vaccine. She encounters William along the way, further mutating, becoming less human. Annette comes in, determined to kill him, but she becomes mortally wounded. Claire defeats the creature, and tries to help Annette, but she refuses. She created the vaccine successfully.

Meanwhile, Leon has lost the tyrant for now, but he discovers a way out of the facility: a train station that they can escape from. Suddenly, the self destruction mechanism activates and gives a quick call to Claire via radio, telling her of the train.

She confirms, then helps Annette to Sherry's room and successfully injects DEVIL into her. The vaccine works, as the girl quickly recovers. Mother and daughter share one final goodbye before Annette dies from her injuries, and Claire carries the grief-stricken girl to the train station as they have no time to lose.

Leon rushes to escape and makes it to the center, only to encounter Ada. She confirms being a spy, hired to retrieve a G virus sample, which she succeeded in doing, and activated the self destruct system. Mr. X shows up, and they team up to try and kill it. Ada was flung off the rails, but the rookie cop made the tyrant fall into the abyss. He tries to save her, but she falls down as well. Leon had to continue, and manage to meet with Claire and Sherry while going to the train station, when he is stopped by Mr. X in its super form. The only way to defeat it once and for all was to use a rocket launcher, which was close by. The tyrant is finally killed with one rocket, and the three escape from NEST and travel through the tunnels by operating the train. Leon and Claire investigate the tail end of the train to witness the final form of William engulfing and moving upward to consume them. The duo stopped the creature by detaching the train as it was destroyed once and for all in the explosion of the facility. The tunnel collapsed as the train reached the outside world, and now they are free as dawn settles in. National Guard reinforcements arrived to fortify the blockade, picking up Leon, Claire, and Sherry along the way.

The 4th Survivor

U.S.S agent Hunk awakens from unconsciousness in the sewers. He contacts Umbrella HQ, explaining that he is the only survivor of the Alpha Team that went to retrieve the G Sample from NEST. Only one sample remains intact, which is enough for extraction. Since he is underneath the RPD Station, he needs to get to the roof, as that's where he will be picked up. The station has no survivors left, as it has been completely taken over by zombies and other creatures. Despite this, the agent made it to the roof and escaped the city.

During a congressional hearing, seeing that the crisis is beyond hope, they made the decision to sterilize Raccoon City on the dawn of October 1st. Umbrella quickly notified their monitors on the inside, and made plans to save some of their assets.

The Mercenary

Carlos, still residing in the clock tower, found some mysterious files from Raccoon General Hospital. They are medical reports on a prototype vaccine for the T-Virus. Wanting to save Jill, who has been infected by Nemesis prior, ventures to the hospital, which is close by. By then, a new species of hunters took it over. Regardless, he found a lost comrade, Tyrell Patrick, who came here to look for the same vaccine. He explains that there is a laboratory that might have the means to make it, and he has received a message from HQ that the government has decided to eliminate the entire city tomorrow at dawn to prevent the spread of the T-Virus. The only way for Carlos to escape is through a helicopter that is hidden in a bio-organic waste disposal factory beyond the city park. He and Carlos are confronted by Nicholai, who is alive. He shoots Tyrell, mortally wounding him, and was about to do the same to the other, but had to retreat as Tyrell sacrificed himself by setting off an explosion. Carlos found the small lab, and found the vaccine just in time. Nicholai planted explosives around the hospital and destroyed it after Carlos escaped the destruction. He returns to the chapel and administers the vaccine to Jill, then waits for her to wake up.

Reunion

Kevin's group and Alyssa's group reunite in a temporary shelter, but they lose hope of ever finding escape after their previous attempts failed. Pondering on what to do next, George finds the corpse of an Umbrella researcher and picks up a working radio. The voice on the other end is a familiar voice, that of Peter Jenkin, a friend of George's who is in the city. He explains that he found shelter at Raccoon University and asks for an important favor. One of his assistants, Linda Baldwin, is trapped in the Umbrella R&D Center and asks him to rescue her and bring her to his location, promising a way out of the city if he does this. He agrees and informs the others, agreeing that they have no other option.

They went to the center, and fortunately found Linda alive. She recognized Yoko as being a former co-worker who she believed to have died long ago. The girl explains she has no memory of ever working for the company, which Linda suspects may have done something to her to suppress her memories. She told her that she was a former computer specialist in NEST two years ago, and she worked in the same facility. However, a minor accidental leak occurred, causing the deaths of 21 scientists and staff, but Linda had no idea that Yoko was the only survivor of that incident, as there was a cover up afterwards to hide her survival and they experimented on her. The young woman still does not remember, but maybe the answers lie in the university where Jenkins is waiting.

Umbrella executives order last-minute operations within the city, such as retrieving an experimental BOW, but it is stolen by a rogue USS operative named Rodriguez, who is working together with the very few Umbrella employees inside the city who cut ties with the company. One such scientist is named Greg Muller, the creator of the T-Virus vaccine called Daylight. He and his assistant, Carter Jones, are held up at Raccoon University, along with his partner, Parker Jenkins.

Last Escape

Jill awakens, finding herself inside the chapel with Carlos still at her side. He tells her what he knows, that salvation is waiting for them at the disposal plant. Together, they began to leave their shelter, but the Nemesis, still alive and mutated, was waiting for them. They escape from the clocktower and race to Raccoon Park.

Meanwhile, George's group made it to the university, but they suddenly lost contact with Peter. Nicholai leads a team of UBCS lent by a separate operation to the university to assassinate the researchers and retrieve a new tyrant hidden inside. He alone kills Peter, but retreats when the building is infested with hunters. George discovers his friend's body and mourns, but finds notes in his office about Daylight. Carter caught up with Linda, and explained to the survivors of the vaccine, and that Rodriguez was waiting for them on Main Street with a chinook with enough space for everyone. The problem is that they can't escape with the hunters around, so Mueller unleashed his own one-of-a-kind tyrant, Thanatos, to kill the hunters and assassins.

While the creature is distracted, Linda and Carter give everyone a dose of daylight, which eliminates the virus inside them. They even take one more sample when they leave, as it may be used for mass production once they escape. Mueller notes Yoko's presence, as he reveals that he used her blood to help create Thanatos, He was also the one who suppressed Yoko's memory and also Alyssa's five years ago when she investigated the hospital in the forest, the very same place she escaped from days prior. He was assassinated by Nicholai, and since he and his team failed in capturing Thanatos, they planted explosives around the university. In order to escape, they would use the underground passage that would get them to Main Street, but Carter is killed by the tyrant that starts to chase them. Luckily, they made it underground while the creature was caught in the destruction.

The underground passage led into the sewers, but the group was caught in a water surge that swept them away, injuring Linda, Rita, Cindy, Jim, Yoko, and Mark. Regardless, they left the sewers and returned to the street where the entrance of Apple Inn is located, close to their destination. Above the street is a highway where a UBCS team is located under the command of an executive, Tommy Nielson, who is ordered to find the stolen BOW that Rodriguez took. They planted mines in the streets in order to prevent his escape on foot, and also put their troops on the ground just in case. The survivors, carrying their injured, avoided the mines and zombified soldiers until they finally reached the chinook. Rodriguez welcomes them and allows them on board, but a mutated Thanatos catches up with them. Kevin, Alyssa, George, and David are the only able-bodied members to fight it, but they ask the pilot to leave without them since they couldn't risk the lives of the others and damage the helicopter.

He obliges, and leaves them while they distract the super tyrant. The chinook is noticed by Tommy and orders his team to stop it from escaping. They used a rocket launcher, missing the aircraft, but the crate it was carrying fell on the highway. Within it is the BOW, Nyx, as it broke free from its confines and killed the entire UBCS team.

Jill and Carlos traverse the park, but are blocked by a worm like creature called the Grave Digger. They kill it, and finally make it to the disposal plant, but Nemesis finds them as it once again try to kill them. Nicholai arrives at the plant as well, hindering their progress by trapping them and Nemesis in a waste disposal room, but defeats the tyrant and escapes the room before they are dropped in acid along with its body. By then, it was too late. Nicholai stole the helicopter and left the city to its fate. Their despair didn't last long, as they were in the communication room when they received a radio call, and Jill recognized the voice as belonging to Barry Burton. She contacts him, informs him of their whereabouts, and requests a pick-up.

Kevin's group defeats Thanatos, but leaves the area, unsure of what to do since they have been left behind. A mortally injured soldier told them of the highway overpass above the inn before dying, and they now have renewed vigor, seeing this as their last chance to flee the city.

Ada, still alive and escaped from NEST, enters the Apple's Inn to retrieve a special device waiting for her. She gets into contact with her employer, Albert Wesker, to confirm that she has a G Sample before helping her escape by giving her a hookshot in the form of a gun. A helicopter would soon fly over her location, which would give her the opportunity she needs. She ascends to the rooftop where an overpass is close enough to jump onto the highway. Thanatos halts her progress, but only temporarily as she uses her skills, despite being injured, to knock it off the overpass. She successfully fled the city by using her hookshot to attach to a passing Umbrella helicopter.

Jill and Carlos race to get to the scrapyard, which is beyond the experimentation room where the US Delta team held their ground against five tyrants. Carlos went ahead to the lift, but Jill was blocked by Nemesis, who survived the acid pool, and mutated into its final form just in time to kill Jill. Inside the room is the Sword of Damocles, an experimental railgun, and she used it to her advantage. She finished Nemesis once and for all, and quickly joins Carlos, where the helicopter arrives on time.

The four survivors climb up the overpass from the roof, but Thanatos recovers from its previous battle, only to be devoured by Nyx. It is a blob like BOW that absorbs organic matter to create an amalgamation of what it eats. Now that it had absorbed the tyrant and the UBCS team, it had grown in size. Luckily for the survivors, the base camp has many weapons, including a rocket launcher. After a fierce battle, they killed Nyx and used a military Jeep to escape the city.

Just in time to see US fighter jets unleashing their payload, Barry carried Jill and Carlos out of the city

Dawn

Experimental thermobaric missiles struck the heart of Raccoon City, completely destroying it and the surrounding area. The military jeep stops at an overlook where Rodriguez's chinook is resting, watching the bomb cloud plume from a safe distance.

After the city's sterilization, President Charles Hammond resigns from office, but as his last act, orders a permanent exclusion zone around Ground Zero.

At least 100,000 people were lost during the Raccoon City Outbreak, with only a sizable number of survivors escaping the tragedy. Most of the evidence of Umbrella's involvement was destroyed along with the city, but the company's downfall has just begun.
