Hello everyone, how do you do?

I'm Hekazu, an individual with plenty enough characters written on to the screen that I would go ahead and call myself experienced. I've been around a few sites before, seen one fall and rise again, and now lurked around these parts to see the first few threads springing forth from the soil. Two people around here were invited by yours truly, and managed to register before them. A kind of motivation that too, I suppose. Well done friends! You put me to rightful shame.

My general trend of writing is that I go for plot in everything I do. I've given a fair shot to stories composed of scenes that do not head towards some sort of conclusion but exist in a void for the reason of seeing those scenes unfold, and while you won't find me telling anyone not to do that, I've determined that's just not the way I enjoy doing things. I'm no stranger to the steamier side of writing either, but approaching me with solely that in mind will have you disappointed as I push the forty seventh page of "background" at you. All right, I perhaps exaggerate. But that particular case did happen in the past. Yet as one might be able to tell from that description, I do enjoy writing a fair bit of detail in scenes. Dipping below two paragraphs a post is a heart wrenching tragedy and has me feeling like a failure. Two isn't the most common of things either. But that stuff's more for the request threads, isn't it?

In general, I'm someone to try and escape the dull everyday in writing. This has led to the creation of my little menagerie, a vast selection of non-human characters that eagerly await their time in the spotlight. If only I ever had time to play them all… One can dream, cannot they?

I look forward to seeing how things develop from here. My tabletop system enjoying self has already begun working on something that's coming to a thread near you soon!

That reminds me of a thread I've had in the past where my partner wanted to use a convenient plot device (memory transference, from a supernatural character several times older than mine) and try to continue on with no extra thoughts giving about it. Much to their surprise, my own character, now having several decades of memories as the other person while she was only in her 20s, was now suffering from an extreme identity crisis and believed herself to actually be the older woman, somehow split off and trapped in this young person's body. It started an entire mini-arc on its own where my character was struggling as the psychological amalgamation of herself and her "former body", with no immediate sign that she'd ever be the same way she was before. To top things off, the older woman had romantic feelings for my character, that only were reciprocated after the memory transfer due to my character having the older woman's memories of wanting that kind of relationship. It led to a lot of self-reflection on her part, considering going through with it now to be an indirect form of mind control and certainly nothing good.

The other roleplayer had intended on just using this as a simple plot device and move on, but they were quick to tell me how much they loved the sudden, unexpected consequences of it. It definitely gave us a lot of unique interactions and is one delightful RP memory that sticks with me to this day. I bring all that up just to say, yes it can be a delight to write about what a character would do and the effects that things would actually have on said characters. It always adds a taste of realism to any good plot, and can bring a lot more intrigue to the table too. Just keep in mind being respectful to other roleplayers and not act like some underhanded DM about it, of course ^^
